On my D800, the metadata will show the EC+FEC as a sample flash compensation - I haven't checked the D7000. 2 Autofocus is enabled, but autofocus operation can be overridden by rotating the separate focus ring while pressing the shutter-release button halfway, or by pressing the AF-ON button on the camera.

This is because EC is being added to FEC for the flash metering, no matter the exposure mode - a process, I've read is changed with the D5 - D5 owners may correct me. Set your camera focus mode according to the chart below: Autofocus with manual override (M/A mode) 1 Set the lens focus mode switch to M/A.

Result will be a (in your case) an under exposed ambient (if you exposed to the -0- ) and a under exposed flash both with 2EV. Though using AutoIso and/or flash, things complicates.ĪutoIso will be altered with the EC - and so will the flash metering (using iTTL).įlash will be told, that you have under/over exposed the ambient by purpose - and will set the flash output accordingly to the EC. If it shows -0-, the settings will in your case give an under expose at 2EV. When using EC in manual exposure mode - in contradiction to some other brands (Canon i.e.) - EC moves the exposure bar relative to the set EC - but it doesn't affect your settings - just shows another exposure, than is set. No - it sure should show you the set EC in the meta data. I tried to simulate the same environment at home and no matter what I set those three parameters to non of the metadata showed _2EV ! it just showed zero which is what I would expect in Manual Mode. I get that when in Manual Mode ISO shutter speed and aperture have an effect on ambient light exposure but why is the flash underexposing to such a degree and why do all images show -2EV in the metadata.
